I often end up slicing up the S's manually and doing either selective clip EQ or riding the volume. I've just been using the stock plugin from Reaper, and I'm not a big fan of it. I managed to pick up Saturn and DS2 for only a little more than what I was expecting to pay for Saturn alone.ĭS 2: Haven't used it yet.but am looking forward to a better De-esser in my toolbox. FABFILTER SATURN EVEN HARMONICS PLUS
I'm only scratching the surface on this one, but I'm loving the band splitting feature, plus in typical Fabfilter style it has a fantastic interface. Saturn: Super impressed.so much control available over the distortion. I think I probably could have just gotten away with the cheaper version that only includes the one algo from the Bricasti. There is some noticeable lag/delay when changing the reverb time parameter.I guess that's all the IR's loading.

Didn't have too much time to mess with the parameters. Seventh Heaven is lush, but sometimes seems a bit dark for my tastes. I needed a better reverb plugin in my arsenal, as I'd been relying on NI's RC24/48 for the most part. Seventh Heaven: Jury is still out on this one. After that, I'd say the slope, and filters are next most important. The FX knob, far left is the most important it controls how aggressively the plugin chases the target curve. It takes a little while to get used to driving the interface. I wish it had a mode where you could display the target curve so you have a better visual impression of what it's shooting for. I found an immediate use for it on a group of bass tracks it really brought out some upper harmonics that made the bass sound 'evolve' over sustained notes. Basically it's a bunch (up to 64) dynamic eq's that drive towards a target level curve. It's not a miracle worker, so you need to have a sound/target curve in mind when using it, but it can really transform a sound.
FABFILTER SATURN EVEN HARMONICS FULL
I foolishly bought this for full price, and then found out that if you sign up for Softube's mailing list you get a discount. Gives me a memory of back when I had an MCI 2", but without the transport problems (except if I play with the speed stability control.in which case I get bad memories). Machine B, and 15 ips are what suit my tastes best. It's probably the sort of thing you want to put in your plugin chain early in the mixing process. Tape: It's pretty good, but pretty subtle. Haven't had a chance to play with the Fabfilter DS yet, but here's my initial impressions of the others: THis can result in some new type of distortion.Been busy finishing up a mix, and I ended up picking up a few new (to me) plug-ins:
